Visitors to the DG Sport Bikers’Festival at the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps never miss the opportunity to meet some of motorcycling’s greatest names. Among the Belgian legends, Didier de Radiguès is simply unmissable. Although the Leuven-born sixty-something has enjoyed success in many different fields, it is his remarkable career on two wheels that remains etched in the memories of racing fans.

De Radiguès is a four-time Grand Prix winner. Among his greatest achievements are finishing runner-up in the 1982 FIM 350cc World Championship, winning the 1983 Belgian 250cc Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, and claiming victory in the 24 Hours of Liège later that same year.

During his Grand Prix career, Didier de Radiguès raced for Alain Chevallier’s team in the 250cc, 350cc and 500cc categories before joining Cagiva, Yamaha and Suzuki. Along the way, he shared garages with champions such as Raymond Roche, Eddie Lawson and Kevin Schwantz.

He brought his outstanding motorcycle racing career to a close in style by winning the prestigious Macau Grand Prix. To this day, he remains the Belgian rider with the highest number of Grand Prix victories.

De Radiguès then embarked on an equally successful career in motorsport. In 1997 he won the Belgian Procar circuit championship and claimed victory in the 24 Hours of Spa. He also enjoyed success across the Atlantic, competing in both IMSA and the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).

Television followed, first as presenter of the Moteurs programme on RTL and later as MotoGP commentator for RTBF.

Meanwhile, De Radiguès established himself as a renowned photographer, exhibiting his work in New York, Singapore, Paris and Brussels. His distinctive artistic approach lies somewhere between painting and photography, producing striking works that belong firmly in the world of contemporary art.
